JOHANNESBURG - The defence in the case against a 21-year-old accused of murdering a Sandton teacher has given the State one more court appearance to finalise its investigation.
On Friday, the rape and murder accused made an appearance in the Alexandra Magistrates Court, where the State asked for three more months to complete investigations. The defence has objected to this request and it was agreed with the lead prosecutor that the matter be postponed to July instead."We are agreeable to the date of 11 July on two simple conditions: that it be marked final and that my learned colleague will send me a copy to show me what is outstanding. What is also troubling is for the four months, we don’t know what was done."The state wants 3 more weeks to investigate but the defence has objected to this.
Magistrate Boshoff has called for the advocate from the DPPs office to address the court on the delays.
