An infant school has employed someone to change nappies because so many pupils are not toilet-trained, a councillor has said.
It is never as easy as so called experts say, there are many conditions including mental health ones that force parents to keep using nappies.
My sister, a working class, one parent family had my 2 nieces potty trained, able to read a simple book, clothe/undress themselves, write simple sentences at 4/5. If your 5 yr goes to school without these basic skills you are failing them. It's called responsible parenting.
Same goes for the other end of primary school. Year on year children are less and less capable of doing things for themselves which we particularly notice on school residentials. If they can't start to organise themselves by age 10 how are they meant to cope in high school?
Wow 5 years old unless they have a disability they should be out of nappies by then. 🤨
What? My three boys were out of nappies in time for nursery, I’d call the parents to come and change the nappies and inconvenience them, unless there is a medical reason for the child not being fully potty trained there is no reason for a 3/4/5 year old to be in a nappy,
Oh look, the state can’t do a proper job of parenting. Scrap child care hours/allowance, stop encouraging new parents back to work, allow married couples operate as a single tax unit (rather than two individuals) with a £30k 0% tax allowance.
😳😳😳😳
Absolutely ridiculous. If u don’t have time to potty train YOUR child then don’t have them. I’m a working mum to 4 children and I would never have sent any of them to school untrained. It’s pure laziness on the parents half.
Parents responsibility to potty training, shouldn't have accepted in school till then
Whaaaat? How young are they starting school in Walsall?
Some of these kids have learning difficulties and disabilities.
Are baby banks supplying some of these nappies?
Perhaps that’s why most European countries start their children in school at 6+.
It would be better if schools phoned parents to say their kid needs nappy changing so please attend to do it or collect them and take them home; yes they may have to leave work to do it but that’s ‘parent’ training’ - or charge for the service pheaseyviews
I think some people in this thread need to learn the definition of anecdotal evidence.(it isn't evidence)
I cannot believe what I have just read. Parents not toilet training their children by 5 If parents can’t love their kids enough to teach them this basic skill, you’d think the price of nappies would be a bit of an incentive wouldn’t you ...
Too many parents aren't patient enough or motivated enough - or just too plain lazy to bother - they simply move it to the too difficult to doo-doo pile and leave it to someone else to clear up. 😉
Sounds like a shit job
I think we should start a human responsibilities movement parenting
What an utterly disgraceful situation bring the parents to account
Blimey my 3yr old grandson can use a toilet, draw pictures almost write name and tell you names of dinosaurs.
What school is it?
Bet the nappy changer isn't British
We are paying Income Tax to provide benefits to dysfunctional, normally broken, families, who should have their children put into care, rather than being left to destroy any future that the child would normally expect.;
Just as well the State is so concerned with teaching LGBT lessons! 🤦🏻♀️🙄
How about not toilet trained no school place and parent investigated
Unfortunately having kids seems to have become a right for people who are incapable and unable (for whatever reason) to bring them up. They are a responsibility, not a friend, not an accessory & not a key to free housing & benefits.
'Lazy parenting' some kids could have learning disabilities and other problems? My daughter's 5, still in Nappies. She has autism/ADHD, we have tried everything, advice we were given from the health visitor was to not force her, let her go at her own pace, we are at our wits end
This is silly unless there is a genuine medical reason every child should be potty trained before starting school it’s lazy parenting no excuses! Iv potty trained 2 kids age 2 and a half and 3 and I’m disabled!
_loumichelle a better contraceptive than fake tan possibly?
I would love to see the original job-ad for that position 🤣😅😂
What a crappy job.
Pretty shitty job
Interesting how this article links to ERIC but doesn't talk about their findings - that the majority of parents toilet training later are doing so because they have to spend longer at work, with children spending longer at nurseries and nursery practitioners needing more support.
This makes me so sad. This isn’t a result of lazy parenting. I can almost guarantee, this is probably an accumulation of single mothers w/no support system, or poor parents have to work every single hour of the day to ensure they pay rent being neglectful. This is Britain.
Behold the welfare state. Lots of rights, but no responsibilities.
A shit job that like
The school should make the parents come to school at least 3 times a day to change their child. Teachers have enough on their plate without adding to their problems due to the inadequacy of the parents.
Youre kidding me!!
Maybe they should start with changing the name “ Infant School” let’s face it 4 - 7 yr olds are hardly infants now are they. It’s confusing the crap outta teenage parents nowadays! 🤷♂️🤷♀️🤣😂😜
Snowflake millenniums should teach their children to read write and be potty trained. So stop texting and get on with job. education
Lazy parenting as simple as that
[insert judgemental, self-righteous statement here]
Not toilet training a child is child neglect. It's not rocket science.
dream job
Shit job!!!!!!
What! 10 yr olds still in nappy's!!!
This is what happens when the family unit disintegrates. It is a byproduct of welfare dependency. Employing nappy changers reinforces state dependency. The children should be sent home and the parents reprimanded.
