An abandoned B-listed Glasgow building could be demolished to make way for student housing.

According to plans, the buildings between 137 and 151 would be transformed into 101"self-contained student studio apartments".The work aims to"activate this Trongate city block which has been vacant/ under-occupied for almost 20 years".

It proposes to retain the facade at 137-141, the full building at 151 and demolish the unlisted building at 145-149.Documents also reason that this development would help combat the"substantial demand for student accommodation within the city and the significant shortfall in supply of high-quality purpose-built student accommodation."

It says:"This proposal is a reworking of the 2016 consented scheme for serviced apartments and assumes the same massing, scale and architectural language of the previous consent. "A new building occupies the site of 137 to 149, with the retained facade of 137-141 integrated into the new building."Readers’ comments: You are personally liable for the content of any comments you upload to this website, so please act responsibly.
