People are furious after a Sydney school banned students from handing out birthday party invitations, branding the move “ridiculous”.

Mosman Public School established the ban on party invitations in an effort to avoid hurting the feelings of students who were not invited,Instead, parents have been instructed to “covertly collect email addresses” from their intended guests and send the invitations electronically.

The ban has infuriated parents who claim kids need to learn they won’t always get special treatment in life.Other parents insisted on teaching kids “resilience” through situations like not being invited to a party, saying it was character building for kids to learn they won’t always win at everything or get picked first.

“So stupid. Kids Need to learn about disappointment and sadness. They are normal emotions that we all feel and it’s important to experience these to a degree, in order to become healthy well adjusted adults. Over entitlement is very concerning,” another said.Source:istock “Unfortunately, it’s unrealistic to invite the whole class, especially when your child probably doesn’t play with 50 per cent,” she said.

How people learn on how to deal with yes and no. It has to happen and it can start at this age, otherwise their generation will not cope wit dissapointment.

People 😁 People they made up 😁

PC to the extreme 🤮

Fair enough! Rejection like this is not something that should be experienced until you are at least in high school. Usually the kids rejected in primary school will be the ones rejected for the rest of their lives. Best to delay as much as possible.

Some parents should not have children & some people should not teach or be in schools Let kids be kids & have some fun & birthday is the one thing that everyone alone achieves for themselves auspol WApol wanews EducationForAll BuzzFeedOzPol WestAusParty sunriseon7

I’m all for reducing paper waste. But the point seems futile - aren’t all the kids going to talk about it afterwards anyway? 🤔

HOME EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN OR LOSE THEM TO THE CORRUPT SYSTEM

Oh no cause no one ever missed out when we were all kids , or got told no etc and we clearly are all traumatised . This shit annoys me .. we ain't friends with everyone toughen up princess . We are fostering a generation of snowflakes.

The school should have hired a life coach instead.

I want to meet those d*ckheads who came up with this- and sack them.

'Freedom of association' includes the right to associate -and the right NOT to associate.

There’s nothing worse than seeing everyone in the class get an invitation except you. I’m still bitter after 40 years. Pass out the invites after school, post or email them- you bitchy parents!

That redicious.

it's 21 century. who sends out the antic thin plant pulp based thingy when you can send out the invitation via platform like evite and etc. :p

Those poor little petals that miss out on an invite. Maybe they could give them a medal as a consolation prize!🙄

I think the worst thing that could happen here is a late onset of FOMO

I will admit it probably means one less thing teachers have to be involved in when parents come to them to ask 'so did Jane, Andrew and Sam get the invitations and give them to their parents?'

Becoming ‘furious’ over a school’s decision which harms nobody is ridiculous
