Jason Clare,Education Minister,Israel

Education Minister Jason Clare's claim that pro-Palestine chants such as 'from the river to the sea' could mean different things to different people is 'ignorant in the extreme,' according to former treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

Josh Frydenberg hits back at Jason Clare's 'ignorant' comments on pro-Palestine chants amid anti-Semitism surge

“Any words that stoke fear in our community or make people not want to go to university are intolerable. I’ve seen people say that those words mean the annihilation of Israel. I’ve seen people say that it means the opposite. I’ve seen people say they’re slogans Israeli political parties have used," he said.

"They were tone deaf comments at best. Ignorant in the extreme. There is no equivalence here. These are not legitimate slogans. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also opposed the chant"from the river to the sea" as it contrasts with the government's call for a two-state solution. Mr Frydenberg's documentary, to air on Sky News Australia on May 28 at 7pm , will examine the rise of anti-Semitism following the attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists on October 7 last year.
