Dirt Bike,Coma,Critical Condition

Alexa Kropf, the UAlbany student critically injured when she was hit by an illegal dirt bike April 27 in Albany, is now awake after almost two weeks in a coma.

She is still in critical condition but stable. She is no longer in a medically induced coma however, still being sedated, in addition to pain management. No longer on a ventilator - breathing on her own. Cervical collar has been removed. She still has a feeding tube and an external ventricular drain, measuring her internal cranial pressure of her head. Things are moving in a positive direction, just at a snail’s pace, which is expected.
