Eight students with Tuskegee University were selected to create a model for what Birmingham’s Legion Field could be.Students with different backgrounds were picked by NFL officials to give Legion Field a new look. They’ve met weekly since the fall to come up with the plans.
Their model plans for new luxury seats, a retractable roof and would be eco-friendly, solar panel use and water harvesting. While there are no plans for these changes, it gives the students a unique way to be creative in a real-world scenario. “I think we did pretty well. Just looking at the results of the stadium, it was pretty nice,” said Bush.“I’ve learned that knowing how to communicate with individuals and seeing their perspective is a really outstanding thing to see and to understand where you can come from and take away from that as well,” said Justin Scott, another mechanical engineering student.
Students presented their final project at the NFL league office in New York, which is where they met league executives and members of the American Institute of Architects.Copyright 2024 WSFA. All rights reserved.
