The Mount Horeb Area School District said on Facebook: 'Community members, there has been an active shooter at our middle school this morning.

A heavy police presence was outside Mount Horeb Middle School in Wisconsin amid the active shooter situation An active shooter at a middle school in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, prompted a district-wide lockdown as cops scoped out the campus and ‘neutralized’ the threat. Cops responded to reports of a suspect armed with a rifle at Mt Horeb Middle School on Wednesday morning. The Mount Horeb Area School District wrote on Facebook: ‘The individual did not breach entryway.

‘The safety and security of our students and staff is paramount. We are following our emergency protocols. We will update you when we have more information to share.’ An emergency alert sent by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office stated there was an active shooter on the 900 block of East Garfield Street. In another updated the school district wrote that law enforcement officials were ‘circulating throughout the middle school to confirm the safety of all students’.
