A suspect has been detained and remains in police custody in connection with the assault.

Birley Academy, formerly Birley Community College in Sheffield A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were injured at a college in Sheffield. Two adults and a child have been hospitalised following reports of an incident involving a sharp object at Birley Community College at around 8.50am. Police say they will remain at the scene throughout the day to provide assurances to those in the school and the local community.

‘This was not a decision taken lightly but the safety of students and staff is paramount. All students and staff are safe.
