Explosive documents reveal the University of Sydney"does not accept" its students chanting"Intifada" is inherently linked to violence despite its historic links to terrorism and suicide bombings in Israel. The University of Sydney denies the word"Intifada" can be reasonably linked to violence after a group of students and families with young children marched through the campus grounds last week chanting the Arabic word for"rebellion".
"However, the University does not accept that every use of the word can reasonably be interpreted in this way, and in the context of current pro-Palestine protests, use of the word is more appropriately viewed as an expression of a political stance in connection with pro-Palestinian activism as opposed to being a statement in support of terrorist acts."
The federal Liberal Senator said the latest incident required the Education Minister, Jason Clare, to intervene. It comes after two traveling members of staff from the University of Tel Aviv were barricaded in a room at the University of Sydney with a hoard of pro-Palestinian protesters. Markson said the refusal to accept the slogan was inherently violent was"not appropriate" on unversity campuses.
"Muscle up, fix this anti-Semitism that’s exploding at the University of Sydney, or resign and go home."
