Teenager Kaylan Hippsley was mowed down by Harley Whiteman, 19, at around 6.15pm on February 29 as he was standing outside a Co-op store with his friends.

A drunk driver kit and killed a 13-year-old by on the pavement before returning to the scene and trying to prevent kind strangers who tried to save him.

A sentencing hearing at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Tuesday heard Kaylan and three of his friends were seen on CCTV standing outside the Co-op store. He was wearing a light blue-grey hoodie and his hood was up. Whiteman then drove back to his home nearby and his two passengers got out of the car and returned to the scene of the collision, and he made his way there shortly later.

Cops rushed to the scene and Whiteman had to be restrained as he was arrested, with police believing him to be extremely intoxicated. Ms Cox said the defendant was abusive towards police and members of the public. She added that he showed no remorse for what he had done, saying.: "It was a f****** good show".
