3 students charged after 2 fights occur at Abington High School, police say

A student was injured and three students were arrested after two separate fights briefly placed a Montgomery County school on lockdown, according to investigators.

On Friday, April 26, at 1:23 p.m., two separate fights simultaneously broke out at Abington Senior High School on 900 Highland Avenue in Abington, Pennsylvania, police said. One of the students involved was in possession of a pocket knife though no one was stabbed during the altercations, according to investigators.showing two people fighting in a narrow hallway. The person who submitted the video said it showed one of Friday's fights at the school.Abington Township Police were called to the scene and the school was briefly placed on lockdown. The responding officers helped school staff members place the fights under control.

One of the students involved in one of the fights suffered a minor injury and was taken to the hospital, according to investigators. That student as well as two others were all arrested in connection to the fights, police said. One student was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. A second student was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of a weapon on school property. The third student was charged with simple assault.The first two students will be detained at the Montgomery County Youth Detection Center while the third student was released to a parent, police said.
