The Cumberland Valley school board voted 5-4 Wednesday to reverse its decision to cancel an anti-bullying presentation by a gay actor.Hundreds of people attended the meeting, which was called after there was an outcry from the district administration, parents and students.The event at Martin View Middle School will now go on as originally scheduled next month, with students being given the opportunity to opt out if they don't want to attend.
They said they rushed to a vote before doing their research, made an uninformed decision and want to fix their mistakes. However, one board member, Matt Barrick, held firm in his support of the board's original decision – reiterating his belief that Pancholy's self-proclamation as an activist is political in nature. 'Why would we invite someone who considers themself a political activist to come to a talk to our children at our school? Get politics out of our schools,' he said.
