As construction crews tore down an old high school building, a school employee alerted them to an engraved cornerstone that read 'AD 1920.' He was just in the nick of time, and folks are glad to take an unexpected peek back at their local history.

Recently, while a construction crew was demolishing an old high school in Minnesota, they — with the help of a school employee — found a time capsule from the Roaring '20s.On Monday — over a century after it was tucked away in 1920— the capsule was opened in Mankato, which is around 81 miles from Minneapolis.'Lots of treasures hidden in that box,” resident Mary Larson told KEYC of the time capsule at the old Owatonna High School.

'Bob Olson, a school district employee, is credited for being the reason the capsule was found.'The day they were ripping down the front pillars and the front doors of the old high school, I went up to the guy running the machine and said ‘There's a time capsule or there's a cornerstone that says AD 1920 on it,’' Olson said.Folks at the event to reveal the contents say they’re glad to have a chance to look back at local history.
