JON JOHNSON COTTONWOOD – Except for a select few, Saniya Keys kept her college destination a surprise for the signing ceremony Thursday in the Cottonwood gymnasium.
“When I visited Oakwood, I loved everything about it,” Keys said. “They made it feel like a home away from home. The coach was willing to come down here and made it known that he wanted me. “People were coming up to me every day asking me where I was going,” Keys said. “I was really just letting God do the work.”
She acknowledged God, family and coaches for helping her attain a scholarship and was appreciative of those in attendance for the signing.Oakwood coach Ronnie Abrams predicted Keys would have a chance to be a force early for the team and could contend for Freshman of the Year honors in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.
