A new research conducted by United Nations International Children Fund in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders revealed that employing more female teachers will be significant to the development of education in Nigeria.

The workshop is to develop a social mobilization and communication strategy that will improve marginalized girl’s enrolment in schools. Presenting the key findings on one of the research conducted titled, ‘Effect of Female Teachers On Girls Enrolment, And Retention in Northern Nigeria,” one of the resource persons, Dr Noel Ihebuzor said in consideration of the research findings, there is need to prepare and hire more female teachers and deploy to rural schools.

The stakeholders also stressed that government should strive to ensure every rural school has at least one female teacher and provide them with adequate financial compensation to make rural posting more attractive.
