de-committing from the University of Arkansas to be part of the first-ever HBCU collegiate gymnastics teamNow, she etched her name in the history books as the first HBCU gymnast to ever win a national title. Her name is Morgan Price, an alumna from Coppell High School in North Texas. after she made the historic decision to reject the SEC offer to attend Fisk.
"I had to call my coach at Arkansas and de-commit," Price told WFAA at the time."It was a hard conversation for me because I know I had worked hard for that, and she had given me so many opportunities ... Most gymnasts don't even get an offer to an SEC school. I was super grateful."when she got an email from Morgan Price asking about joining the team. ."It really was. I’m so blessed that Morgan took that leap of faith with me.
Now, two years removed from that leap of faith, Price has re-written the record books. She scored a 39.225 in the all-around to win the United States Gymnastics Collegiate National Title at Hollinger Fieldhouse in West Chester, Pa. on Friday night.With a score of 39.225, she becomes the first USAG Collegiate National Champion from an HBCU!
