Education Minister Norma Foley announced the new initiatives which will run from September 2024, as part of the Department of Education’s Cinealtas: Action Plan on Bullying

New measures are to be put in place to tackle the growing problem of bullying in the country’s schools. These will include the introduction of new anti-bullying modules in primary and post-primary schools.

Education Minister Norma Foley yesterday announced the new initiatives which will run from September 2024, as part of the Department of Education’s Cinealtas: Action Plan on Bullying. The new modules include a new first-year resource which supports students in their transition from primary to post-primary colleges.

Ms Foley has also announced a Cinealtas showcase and awards event will be held this September. It will celebrate the good work school communities are doing to prevent and address bullying. “My department will randomly select approximately 30 schools that will be invited to participate in the showcase event.
