LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The FAA and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a plane crash on the northwest side of the county.
According to a release from the FAA, a single-engine Piper PA-28 crashed near the Purdue University Airport on Thursday, April 11. Tippecanoe County Sheriff Bob Goldsmith told 13News that around 3:31 p.m. on Friday, April 12 the department received a call about a possible plane crash nearThe wreckage was discovered around 5:30 p.m. Friday according to the FAA. The FAA says it is not yet known how many people were onboard the plane at the time of the crash.
According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff, the initial investigation revealed the crash took place around 8 p.m. on Thursday. One person was confirmed dead in the crash. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide any updates.
Jeff Pittard, the president of Purdue Aviation, LLC, which is not affiliated with the university, confirmed to 13News that the small aircraft was from Purdue Aviation.Related Articles
