Kevin Hall of Tucker Arensberg will serve as the new solicitor, after a narrow board majority suspended rules to appoint him.NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — In a five to four vote, and dozens of community members voicing their frustrations, the West Shore School District school board appointed a new law firm and a new solicitor, without going through the board's Request For Proposal process., more than 100 people put in electronic public comments, and dozens more addressed the board face-to-face.
Also on the table was a vote to suspend Board Policy 005, Section 7, which gives the board the power to appoint the solicitor. #Breaking: The West Shore School District School Board appoints Kevin Hall with Tucker Arensberg PC as the new solicitor. Vote again was 5-4. Members who voted to appoint Mr. Hall: Thomas , Brent, Brinton, Cox, and Davis. Community members are visibly upset. The system for a Request For Proposal was not followed in the process to get him on the agenda for approval, and despite parent and taxpayer concerns over the legality and Mr. Hall's qualifications in school law.
