A former Cornell student who posted threats online calling for the deaths of Jewish people in October has pleaded guilty.

Former Cornell student pleads guilty to death, rape threats against Jewish people Patrick Dai, 21, was in Onondaga County Court Wednesday regarding his arrest on Oct. 31, 2023. He pleaded guilty to transmitting interstate threatening communications, which is a felony.

The posts also contain pro-Hamas language, with the threats seeming to be in retaliation for Israel's attacks on Gaza following Hamas' assault on Oct. 7, 2023. In court Wednesday, Dai responded affirmatively to Judge Brenda Sannes multiple times, with the judge satisfied that he was fully understanding of what was going on, and understood that his words online would be perceived as a threat.
