CIBAC party-list Representatives Eddie Villanueva has filed a bill proposing scholarship grants for persons with disabilities (PWDs) aged 25 and below. The bill mandates the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to provide these scholarships in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The aim is to uplift the quality of life of PWDs and make them a contributing factor to economic growth.

A bill granting scholarship to persons with disabilities has been filed in the House of Representatives.CIBAC party-list Representatives Eddie Villanueva made this proposal under his House Bill 10078 or the Scholarship Grants for PWDs Act of 2024 which mandates the Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education , to provide scholarship grants to PWDs aged 25 and below.

This bill seeks to provide scholarship grants to PWDs to guide them in their development and make them a contributory factor to economic growth of our society,” Villanueva said in his explanatory note.“It will be of great help if they are able to obtain a college degree with the help of the government. In view of the foregoing, the passage of this bill is earnestly sought,” he added.
