HALIFAX, N.S. — MPs Sean Fraser and Andy Fillmore announced $2.4 billion for artificial intelligence research and development at Dalhousie University on Sunday afternoon.It was the latest in a litany of pre-budget spending announcements by Liberal MPs across Canada in the run-up to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland unveiling the full document on April 16.

“That’s why we’re focused on creating more good jobs, including in innovation and technology, which are among the highest paying of all industries.” “The rapid advance of generative AI today will unlock immense economic potential for Canada, significantly improving productivity and reducing the time workers have to spend on repetitive tasks,” said Trudeau.

In a statement put out Sunday, leader Pierre Pollievre accused the Liberal government of driving up inflation through massive federal spending.
