I am reporter based in Brooklyn covering breaking news. I previously covered crime, politics, and local New York City news for Metro and the New York Post. I am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Columbia University.

A winning Powerball ticket was drawn early on Sunday morning after an over three hour delay, meaning a winner who bought the ticket in Oregon won the jackpot of $1.3 billion—the fourth-largest prize in the game’s history.Key Facts

The lump sum is automatically taxed at 24%, and Oregon takes another 8% in state taxes—meaning the winner will actually take home $413,440,000 after taxes, if they live in Oregon. Although Powerball drawings are usually scheduled for 11 p.m., “one lottery needed additional time to complete the required pre-draw procedures,” Powerball said—and the drawing was delayed until 2:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday.
