Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A month before its release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball takes to social media to defend the film’s use of CGI. The fourth film in the live-action reboot franchise, the movie will take place many years after the reign of Caesar and follow Noa, a young chimp who resists the evil reign of the film’s villain, Proximus Caesar.

Why Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Dependence On CGI Isn’t Worrisome While the seeming reliance on CGI may be associated with something of lesser value, this isn’t the case with the reboot franchise. So far, the films in this franchise have proved that the VFX team knows what they’re doing, as the films released so far sport impeccable visual effects.

In all, the film’s seeming dependence on CGI shouldn’t hint at a mindless CGI fest, but, instead, suggest a compelling story that’s only elevated by its use of CGI. The movie is projected to make $54 million - $61 million. While that’s not the highest of the franchise , Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is on track to be a commercial success.
