is a Roald Dahl story about a boy’s escape from Dickensian squalor into a world of colour, optimism, adventure and deliciousness.
Tragically orphaned by an escaped rhinoceros, James Henry Trotter is left to the tender mercies of his horrible aunts Sponge and Spiker . The clever, peach-shaped set allows the cast to pop in and out of windows and interact with the moving projections that use Jon Weber’s illustrations – Weber’s work evokes Dahl’s favourite collaborator, Quentin Blake. It’s a true feat of coordination that the images and the actors’ movements align perfectly.
