Police restraining the suspect in the shooting A 12-year-old child has died after a shooter opened fire at a primary school in Finland at the start of lessons. Three children, all aged 12, were reported wounded at the Viertola primary school in the city of Vantaa, north of the capital, Helsinki. It was later confirmed that one of the pupils has died after this morning’s attack. Two others sustained serious injuries. Police were called to the school at 8.
‘The immediate danger is over,’ the Viertola school’s principal Sari Laasila said but declined to comment further on the incident.
