Two teenagers were sentenced to prison after they pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in connection with a shooting near a Brighton high school.

Dakarei Edwards, 18, and Jayden Garcia, 17, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault with serious bodily injury, according to Adams County District Court records. Each was sentenced to four years in juvenile detention and 12 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.The two were involved in a March 15, 2023, shooting at 9th Avenue and Bush Street, a couple of block north of Brighton High School.
