Former Yale soccer coach Rudolph “Rudy” Meredith is expected to plead guilty to taking nearly $900,000 in bribes to get students admitted to the school

BOSTON—The former head women’s soccer coach at Yale University appeared in federal court here Thursday and is expected to plead guilty later to taking nearly $900,000 in bribes to get students admitted to Yale under false pretenses, in the national college-admissions scandal.

Rudolph “Rudy” Meredith, who spent more than two decades as head coach and resigned from Yale in November, was one of 50 people charged on March 12 in “Operation Varsity Blues,” an alleged conspiracy including prominent families and athletic coaches...
