On March 27, the board of directors of the Notre Dame Avenue clinic announced that Meghan Peters has been tapped to take on the role. She starts her new duties on April 1.
“I look forward to the challenge,” said Peters in a news release. “The City of Lakes FHT has always been a progressive organization, and I welcome the opportunity to lead this organization and continue its legacy as a cutting-edge primary care team in Ontario.” Peters has some big shoes to fill as she is taking over from the organization’s founding executive director, Dave Courtemanche. A former mayor of Greater Sudbury , Courtemanche has led the FHT since 2007.“Dave has been instrumental in guiding our organization to new heights.
As for Peters, for the past decade she has served as the quality improvement decision support specialist for the Sudbury FHT. Through this role, the news release said she has supported nine family health teams across Northeastern Ontario by helping them implement quality improvement initiatives, optimize electronic medical record systems and adopt new digital health technologies.
Holding a bachelor of arts from Laurentian University, Peters has a Green Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification and is completing her Certified Health Executive Program with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
