The Palmyra Area School District in Lebanon County is clearing up any confusion about the high school's fire alarm system.Some parents voiced concern on social media after learning teachers were given whistles to alert students and staff of a fire in the building.The parents said they were worried it was the only alert that would occur.
As a result, the district immediately worked with both our local fire department and their points of contact to determine how the building could be occupied in order to operate school on a daily basis. With approval from the professionals within the fire department community, we did issue whistles to staff members in the building. The purpose of the whistles is to provide the auditory component of the fire alarm system in the event the system is triggered.
