Liberal Senator Dave Sharma has taken aim at Sydney University over the mishandling of a pro-Palestinian protest, where activists were locked in a room with Israeli university staff.A Liberal Senator has criticised Sydney University after pro-Palestinian activists were locked in a room with guests from Israel's Tel Aviv University in an incident last week.
Tel Aviv University sources told Sky News that that the two female representatives present did not think they should have to succumb to the demands of the protesters and leave, seeing as they had flown from Israel for the collaboration with the University of Sydney. Instead, the University of Sydney security locked the activists inside the same room as the Israeli delegates and had security guards stationed outside the room.
"It beggars belief. All of the Tel Aviv University representatives happen to be female. And then we have this group, and the footage I've seen, is largely young men who were protesting and yelling at megaphones in a room, behaving in a threatening and intimidating fashion, and in a way that surely is at odds with the values and ethos of the university who aren't shut down by the security.
