However, Mr Abdulaziz did not state whether the release of the children involved the payment of a ransom to their abductors, as the terrorists had earlier demanded N1 billion as ransom. The pupils were released after 17 days in captivity. Their release followed that of 17 pupils abducted in another school in Sokoto state.
