ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Around a thousand snaked through the streets of Anchorage to West High School Saturday morning for the first“We did not quite expect the flood we had for the first two hours— it got really crazy,” exhibitor and owner of the Reptile Barn Colin Lindsey said. “We’re thrilled that the community loves it.”
The event kicked off on Saturday at 11 a.m. with 25 vendors at displays that stretched across the high school gymnasium, each featuring different reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The hearts of visitors young and old were warmed by cold-blooded creatures including snakes, iguanas, axolotls, and turtles.
Lindsey said vendors included rescue adoption stations, reptile-inspired artwork, and plenty of hands-on experiences for guests. It was an opportunity for attendees to learn more about how to properly care for their animals and about different species.
