A school bus carrying students from Tom Green Elementary in Buda was involved in a fatal accident in Bastrop County.

A Hays Consolidated Independent School District school bus carrying 44 preschoolers from a Buda elementary school was involved in a fatal accident Friday afternoon in Bastrop County, officials said. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services said on the website X, formerly Twitter, that it was responding to a bus rollover on Texas 21 near Caldwell Road. Two helicopters were called in to transport four patients, while three other people were taken to St.

In a Facebook post, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office said Highway 21 was closed near the Caldwell and Bastrop county line “due to a multiple fatality accident involving a school bus.” Hays CISD said in a statement that the bus was carrying Tom Green Elementary students and 11 adults returning from a field trip to the Bastrop Zoo when it was “involved in a serious accident.” The school is in Buda, about 15 miles south of downtown Austin.
