RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. —According to a spokesperson with the district, Emily Romine, an integrated preschool teacher at Stewartsboro Elementary School, was given s notice of charges report on March 8 regarding an incident that occurred on Jan. 30.
Romine is facing three school violations charges, including one for alleged physical contact, another for "professional misconduct," and a third for allegedly viewing non-school sites on her laptop instead of monitoring students.The notice of charges accuses Romine of physical contact with two students in the cafeteria during their lunch period. It states the first charge "constitutes numerous incidents verified on camera footage over an 8-minute window.
The report lays out all the alleged physical contact based on times stamps from the video. Romine is accused of several acts, including grabbing a student by the arm and pulling them, pushing a student, pushing a student's head, kicking a student's chair and more. The Rutherford County school board is set to vote on Romine’s 15-day suspension Wednesday night. She is currently on unpaid suspension pending the outcome of the vote.
