FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Following Monday’s failed veto override vote, education funding and policy has been up in the air, so Alaska lawmakers worked in the early hours of Thursday morning to reach a critical deadline.

The BAG program is committed to increasing rural school’s internet download speeds up to 100 megabits per second . “The has done a linear estimate and just taken the amount of cost now and said, ‘OK, it’s four times the speed, so we’re going to increase it by four times, which is not how internet pricing works,” O’Connor said in a statement last month.

“We are moving very quickly on this because next Wednesday is a hard and fast deadline for school districts to put these applications forward,” stressed Rep. Bryce Edgmon, I-Dillingham, as a creeping deadline to apply for federal dollars in less than a week away.
