In January, Boerne Police Department officials confirmed that they received two unspecified threats against Boerne and Boerne Champion High Schools. Police said all students and staff are safe.
A shooting threat was called in, which was later found to be unsubstantiated. That didn't stop concerned parents from coming to campus though."I want my daughter out, I want all the students to be safe," Gene Estrada, a Jefferson parent, told us that day. "I'm worried." "That was the outcome that you saw out here, was parents being impatient, not going through the entire process that we have in place for that reunification," said SAISD Police Chief Johnny Reyes Jr. after the incident.when they're investigating violent activity. We reached out to several local districts about these communication plans, and what happens if parents show up after the alerts go out. We ask parents not to come to the school during an emergency event. We realize this is extremely difficult – but police and administrators need to focus on the investigation and have as few distractions as possible. Typically, parents will not be allowed on the campus during this time.
Somerset ISD tells us that like many districts across the state, they use the standard response protocol, which includes a reunification plan for emergencies.
