A Schertz Elementary School teacher has been arrested on an accusation of indecency with a child. Gabriel Cantu, 42, a San Antonio resident, turned himself in early Thursday after an arrest warrant was obtained by the Schertz Police Department based on an outcry by one of his fourth-grade students, the department said in a news release. The girl’s mother reported the outcry to police on March 11, the release said.
Cantu was arrested without incident and taken to the Guadalupe County Jail. Information on his bail setting was not yet available. The school district Thursday called the situation “deeply concerning.” “All parents of current and former students who were directly taught by this teacher will be contacted individually today,” a statement by an SCUCISD spokeswoman said.
