Singapore's hospitality and tourism industry is preparing to welcome Taylor Swift concert goers with open arms and immersive experiences, according to Dr. Guy Llewellyn, Assistant Professor at EHL Hospitality Business School.
Dr. Llewellyn emphasised the importance of creating an immersive environment for guests from the moment they arrive until their departure. He said that tailoring experiences to a diverse audience presents its own set of challenges, particularly in developing the cultural intelligence of hospitality professionals. Llewellyn highlighted the need for comprehensive training to ensure staff can cater to various cultural norms and expectations.
Amidst these efforts, the Singapore hospitality industry is grappling with labour shortages, a challenge that digital solutions are helping to address. Llewellyn points to the deployment of AI and robots in hotels for tasks such as food delivery and floor cleaning, which allows human staff to focus on guest interactions.
