Arrest made after Elberta child injured in hit and run at school bus crossing An eight-year-old girl was injured after a woman drove past a stopped school bus and struck the child, according to the Elberta Police Department.

Branscomb says the driver never stopped and fled the scene. He says the driver was located Monday after officers received a tip about who the driver might be and where they could have been going. According to the Elberta Police Department, the Foley Police department assisted with locating the suspect vehicle at a business in Foley. Branscomb says 33-year-old Katherine Rolek was arrested and is accused of hitting the child. He says the black Ford SUV was located at Rolek’s place of employment.

“It is gut-wrenching and devastating,” said Bradley. “I think devastating as a mother but for our community and for the schools." According to police the child was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Sergeant Branscomb says the child suffered a broken leg, concussion, bruising, and cuts. He says she was released from the hospital Monday evening.Good morning parents,
