Majority of private school heads oppose publishing NAPLAN | JordsBaker

More than two thirds of private school principals believe NAPLAN data should not be published on the My School website, according to a nationwide survey that reveals division within the sector over the benefits of the controversial test.

Many of the heads said parents struggled to understand the data, while nine out of 10 principals themselves said pitting schools against "statistically similar" ones did not allow for fair comparisons. "There was such diversity of views, there's no clear cut 'yes' or 'no' in the responses we received," she said. "Our recommendation is that we need more information - what drives the philosophy of schools around NAPLAN?"
