Boby Ching, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at University of Macau.

is an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at University of Macau. He obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his PhD in education from University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Terezinha Nunes. He has expertise in children’s thinking and learning and its implications in educational practice.

Grounded in interdisciplinary theoretical perspectives from education as well as developmental, educational, and social psychology, Boby’s research covers three broad areas of scholarship, including mathematics learning in children, self-worth and mindsets, and social stigma: development and implications in education. He was identified as one of the “most productive scholars” in educational psychology journals for the 2015-2021 period in the early career category.

In recognition of the potential impact and contribution of his research to academia, Boby received multiple awards, such as the Jean Piaget Society Doctoral Dissertation Prize by the Jean Piaget Society in 2018 and the Rising Star Award by the Association for Psychological Science in 2023. In 2019, he was nominated to join the editorial board of the journal “Learning and Instruction”, a top journal in educational psychology.
