A teaching union has said it hopes a new pay offer will "reverse the shocking brain drain" that has seen nearly 80% of new graduates leave Northern Ireland. Speaking at the Ulster Teachers' Union conference this week, union General Secretary Jacquie White raised concerns regarding the number of new teachers leaving Northern Ireland for the Republic and other parts of the UK due to pay and conditions.
She said that the education system has been "on a cliff edge" as talented teachers look for job opportunities elsewhere, but hopes that the latest pay offer from the Education Minister Paul Givan could change that.
