When Deputy William Weaver noticed a mom in distress at school drop-off when her baby wasn't breathing, he rushed over to perform CPR and saved the infant's life. 'It made me feel incredible,' Weaver tells PEOPLE of the heroic moment.

"I will never forget the look in the mother’s eyes, she went from a state of panic to tears of happiness," Deputy William Weaver tells PEOPLEGeorgia Slater is an associate editor on the Parents team at PEOPLE. Her work has previously appeared in USA Today and Washington Life Magazine.A school resource officer jumped into action to save the day when a mom encountered a scary situation with her baby girl.

Deputy Weaver, whose heroic actions were captured on surveillance footage from the school, began performing back thrusts and chest compressions on the infant. "The mother was so thankful and was crying tears of happiness when I handed her baby back to her, crying and breathing," he recalls.
