Nigeria's weightlifting team secured second place at the African Games 2023, winning a total of 32 medals. Egyptian lifters claimed the top spot with 24 gold medals. All 12 Nigerian lifters achieved podium finishes, except for Morufat Folarin who sustained an injury on the first day of the competition. The event concluded on March 15, 2024, at the University of Ghana, Legon.

Nigeria finished in second position in the weightlifting event at the African Games 2023. The country's lifters won a total of 32 medals. Nigerian lifters won 16 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals to come second behind leading country Egypt. Egypt, who continued her dominance in the sport, had a total of 24 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals. All 12 Nigerian lifters won medals, with the exception of Morufat Folarin, who was injured on Day 1 of the competition and could not continue.

The African Games weightlifting event, which began on Saturday, March 9th, was rounded off on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the University of Ghana, Legon. Nigeria weightlifting team will return home with their shoulders held high, having retained their second position, which they achieved in Rabat, Morocco, four years ago
