Buried in the back of an equipment room adjacent to San Diego State’s practice field was a 4-foot speaker system that had not blasted out a beat in more than five years. SDSU team managers this week dusted off the cobwebs and wheeled out the speaker to the edge of the field, helping set the tone for spring practice. 'Music is just such an integral role of people’s lives right now, especially these young men,' new SDSU coach Sean Lewis said. 'I kind of view it as they’re accustomed to it.
It helps create a performance environment that is high-energy, that creates enthusiasm. 'That’s what I want this place to be. I want it to be high energy. I want it to be an enthusiastic location. I want it to be a spot where these guys come and look forward to. I don’t know what half those songs are because they pick them out, but they enjoy them.'
