of a Las Vegas high school student argued in court why the judge should consider dismissing the case.
Attorneys claim the fight was spontaneous and said there was not a conspiracy to kill 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis. Metro Police arrested nine teenagers suspected of participating in the deadly beating that happened in an alley near Rancho High School on November 1. In a voluntary statement to police, Robinson claimed Lewis had harassed him for stealing a vape pen but denied taking it according to a detective during the grand jury hearing.“He didn't seek this quarrel, he didn't seek this fight,” Draskovich said.
Court papers filed last month by Beaver’s attorney, Gabriel Grosso, said Lewis’s friend had a pair of wireless headphones stolen at school and that friend, “told Lewis he knew who had taken his property and plans were made to fight the suspected thief in the back alley.” The petition revealed that the teens “saw their target in the alley and Lewis pushed the much smaller student, sending him stumbling forward.
