Chicago's teachers union is facing an ethics complaint after a leaked email detailing a plan to help students vote sparked concerns locally.written by Chicago Teachers Union vice president Jackson Potter advertised a "Student Power Forum" scheduled for Friday.

"As we are witnessing both locally and nationally, a lack of voter literacy regarding the electoral process has led to misinformation, creeping nationalistic fascism, and the harassment of women, people of color, and LGBTQIA people," CTU wrote. "Illinois Policy has a problem with civic engagement for our 90% student-of-color district."

"CPS has shared with the CTU our concerns that the March 15 event be nonpartisan and that it must comply with our ethics policy," the spokesperson said. "The CTU has assured us that they will adhere to our policies and procedures, including our ethics policy."
