State Police, the collision happened around 11:30 a.m. when the bus unexpectedly crossed the center line for unknown reasons and smashed headlong into a semi-truck carrying sand. Both vehicles burst into flames, and all inhabitants of both vehicles — the semi-truck driver, the bus driver, and three students on the bus — were pronounced dead at the scene., Schuyler-Industry Schools announced the loss of the students and staff, though withheld further information out of respect.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce our school community has lost both staff and students in the traffic incident involving one of our school buses this morning,” the statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and our community. Out of respect for everyone involved, no names or further information will be released at this time.”
